Recently, the brilliant campaigners from the Barmpton and Skerningham Campaign Group showed me the impact that up to 4,500 houses will make if Ben Houchen’s “Skerningham Garden Village” gets the go-ahead. Houses that Darlington simply doesn’t need.
Beautiful countryside and woodland, home to threatened bird species, and used by hundreds of people for walks every day, will be tarmacked over. The development will have a direct impact on traffic numbers in Whinfield and Harrowgate Hill, with an extra 5,400 vehicles A DAY on Barmpton Lane and an extra 5,100 A Day on Whinbush Way by 2029.
